Seriously.  This one is all about the children in Ringgold, Georgia.

I’m taking a moment from my first world problems to tell you about a community that needs our help, writers!

The community of Ringgold, Georgia was hit by a very destructive tornado that did substantial damage to some schools.  They need help obtaining books for some of this years’ classes.  They are asking for all manner of books: paperbacks for English students; math, science and social studies textbooks; and some books for the gifted kids.  Although, since I’d never heard of the books they want for their super-smarties, I’m guessing I wouldn’t make the cut for the gifted program in Ringgold.  le sigh.

Their blog lists several methods of donation from buying the book yourself and sending it to the head of their English department to having an independent bookseller in Pennsylvania do it for you.  They also accept donations of cold, hard cyber-cash and paper checks (you remember those, right?).

For my part, I went to Amazon.com and took advantage of their Free Super-Saver shipping w/$25 purchase program.   I was able to get 6 books for $25!  You can’t beat that with an EF-4 tornado.

Can’t you just hear those kids reading aloud in their fabulous Southern drawls, y’all?  How can you not donate?

That is all.  Regularly scheduled programming will resume soon enough.
